How to enable or disable the onscreen keyboard in windows

So you want to use your laptop keyboard to type and it’s misbehaving or it has malfunctioned.

For example,

You may have installed a new keyboard and drivers have not been updated

Or the motherboard and the keyboard are not connected properly, i.e. the ribbon or connector is loose, broken or damaged. Hence it may be unresponsive.

Dirt or spills on the keyboard may also cause it to malfunction. Some keys may not be working, cannot be pressed.

Let’s say the keys have been scrabbed off or warn out and not visible.

 

This may be some of the reasons you highly need to be using the virtual keyboard on your screen, read below how you can activate and use the onscreen keyboard.

 

Procedure to Activated Onscreen or Virtual Keyboard

Method 1

        1.      In windows 10, Go to the start tab and search for “keyboard

        2.    Select On-Screen Keyboard.(Desktop App)

        3.     Therefore there you go you have your On-Screen keyboard displayed.

        4.    You can go ahead and use it as you navigate with the external mouse.

        5.     The mouse will help you type on the virtual keyboard(On-Screen)

 

Method 2

        1.      Right-Click on the Taskbar. It will display a bunch of options.

        2.    Select “Show Touch Keyboard button”
You will notice a small keyboard displayed on the taskbar.

        3.    When you click on the small keyboard icon on the taskbar it will be docked On the Screen

        4.    Click on the middle button to undock and have your On-Screen keyboard floating on the screen

        5.     Pro tip about this keyboard is that it has emojis as well as keyboard setup preferences (You can separate the keyboard into two as well)
