Microsoft
has started imposing the November 2021-released 21H2 update for Windows 10 on
devices running the 20H2 update, which was made available a year earlier. It
must update any machines still running 20H2 to a more recent version since it
intends to discontinue providing support for it on May 10.
To
ensure a "smooth updating experience," the company claimed to be
utilizing machine learning to identify which machines are prepared for the 21H2
upgrade.
Since
Windows 10 arrived in 2016, 21H2 is one of the smallest and least impactful
upgrades, so installing it should be simple. Microsoft has stated on its
Windows 10 Home and Pro Lifecycle page that it will continue to support version
21H2 until June 2023.
