How much does it cost to replace a lost KCPE certificate?

The replacement cost is KES 5220. This can be paid via MPESA.

The system will send a customized pay bill number to the user, with the amount that should be paid after the documents have been verified by KNEC.

 

How much does it cost to replace a lost KCSE certificate?

The fees you pay for a Replacement Certificate are KE 5,000/= + 16% VAT KE 800/- a total of 5,800 per certificate.

 

How can I replace my KCSE and KCPE certificates?

Today we will understand how to replace our lost documents which are very important as proof that we went through the system (school). You don’t have to panic if they have been lost, damaged, or missing in any way or form. You can just replace them by following the below procedure.

 

Who is Eligible?

All candidates who sat for Kenya national examinations, and lost/misplaced their certificates :

-        Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), or

-        Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).

 

Its Validity

The document is valid forever.

Required Documents

        Copy of your certificate(s) or results slip(s)

        A letter of recommendation from the school headteacher attended or from CDE/DEO (District Education Officer) for private candidates and for candidates whose schools have closed down address it to KNEC

        Sworn legal affidavit on the identity of the applicant

        Recommendation letter from the employer where applicable

        Police Abstract indicating loss of certificate(s)

        M-PESA

        Copy of National Identity Card (ID)

 

Procedure for replacement of lost certificates

1)      Applicants are required to apply online through the Query Management Information System (QMIS). The platform allows them to request the examination results certification letter. The QMIS can be accessed from here http://qmis.knec.ac.ke.

2.      If  new, the  user is then prompted to register, a registered user however  logs in using their credentials;

3.      The Client can then access the User Manual. The User can therefore identify the requirements relevant to his query and upload scanned copies of the requisite documents;

4.      Pay the amount as prompted by the system. Payments are done by M-pesa;

5.      Upon successful processing of the query, KNEC, using the Client’s provided email or phone number, notifies them of when to collect their processed document(s).

6.      The client is required to provide original copies of the documents they had attached during the application process at the point of collection.

NB:  The Client's username and password are confidential. Do not share with anyone.  You MUST key in a valid email address and/or mobile phone number in order to receive feedback.

 


2)      Attach the following documents to the replacement form:

-        Copy of your certificate/results slip (it is always important to keep a copy somewhere). Results slips are applicable for all exams except CPE and KCPE up to 2012. KCPE results slip from the year 2013 printed from the official KNEC website will be accepted.

-        Recommendation letter/ Letter of completion from your school by your headteacher, or from the County Education Officer or SCDE for private schools/schools that have been closed down, addressed to the CEO, KNEC

-        Sworn legal affidavit

-        Police abstract certifying the loss of your certificate

-        National ID/passport or birth certificate for those under 18 years of age,

-        One-color passport size photo.

 

3)      Note, the name on the ID or birth certificate must be the same as that used during the sitting of the exams.

 

4)      In case you changed your name, make sure you have attached the legal documents to state so.

 

5)      The replacement cost is KES 5220. This can be paid via MPESA. The system will produce and send a unique pay bill number to the applicant, indicating the amount to be paid after the documents have been verified by KNEC.

 

6)      Submit the documents online as part of the application process.

 

Then wait 15 working days from the date of submission. You can pick your new certificate from KNEC offices. Remember that you should bring your original ID with you.
