Today I'll show you how to delete a WordPress.com site.
Steps to Delete WordPress.com Site
You might be uncomfortable if someone read the outdated
information on your WordPress.com blog. Or perhaps you created a website with
the intention of starting a blog but never actually did. Any WordPress.com site
can be easily and permanently deleted, regardless of the reasons. To be clear,
this post won't teach you how to remove a WordPress.org site; instead, you
should contact your WordPress hosting company if that's what you're after.
Let's now go over how to remove a WordPress.com site.
Step 1. Go to
your WordPress.com home page, scroll down the left-hand side menu, and select
"Settings" from the list
of options. On the right side of the screen, the General Settings window will appear.
Step 2. Scroll
down until you reach the Site tools
Section, then click "Delete
Your Site Permanently". The Delete
site screen appears.
Step 3. If
you want to keep the site's content but delete the site, you can export it from
the Export Content First section at
the top of this screen. Scroll down to the Delete
Site section after backing up your content, if you wish. You'll notice a
warning that the URL for the site you're removing won't be accessible to you afterward.
You'll also see a warning that
states that removing your WordPress.com site will erase all of its
contributors, domains, themes, and upgrades.
Step 4. To
proceed with deleting your WordPress.com site, click "Delete Site" in this section. A confirmation window for site
deletion appears.
Step 5. To
confirm, type the URL of the
WordPress.com site you want to delete in the space before clicking "Delete
this site." You won't see the website on your WordPress.com homepage after
it has been totally removed.
