Who does it apply to?
Any
Kenyan Citizen who has forgotten or lost their KRA pin.
Anyone who for a certain reason forgot their email credentials that had their KRA PIN Number or KRA PIN Certificate.
Just for some knowledge on how stuff works.
Then follow along.
What will you need to get lost KRA Number?
An
email address – Gmail or Yahoo can do well or any other email address provider company.
A Twitter account or Facebook account
Procedure
Open Twitter Account
You can skip this section if you already have a twitter account.If you don’t already have a twitter account you can create one easily here.
- Open your browser and navigate to:
- Or using your smartphone open the Twitter application from Google PlayStore.
- Then Click on Sign up
- Fill in your details e.g. Name, Phone or Use email instead, Date of birth
- Click the next button twice
- Then Click the Sign Up button.
- You will receive a verification code on the number you signed up with once you Press OK
- Verification code notification on phone.
- Enter the verification code to verify
- Next enter an 8 character or more password and press next
- You can upload a profile picture or skip for now.
- Fill in your bio or skip for now.
- Select your interests hit next twice and you are good to go.
Reaching Out To KRA
Most
people prefer to use twitter because it is fast and reliable to communicate
with companies quickly.
It
is like sending a company a short message and getting their reply in less than
an hour which is good enough.
KRA on twitter
- So we will search the KRA twitter handle, which is @KRACare with a verified blue tick.
N/B
Make sure it is your Twitter / Facebook account because they don’t share information with 3rd
party users.
- When you ask for your KRA Number you will be asked to scan and send your original ID (both sides) via DM (direct message)

For your safety never include your phone number, email, PIN, ID, or other
personal information in a public post/ timeline
- You will be asked to clarify your service request
- Due to security and confidentiality of taxpayers data, taxpayer’s details or data cannot be provided through third parties so make sure it is your own verified Twitter / FB account.
- Otherwise you can email KRA using your email address at callcentre@kra.go.ke
Open your Gmail Account
If
you don’t already have one check out this link.
- If you lost your PIN number and password in another email.
- You can use your current email address to inform KRA about it.
- Attach your scanned original copy of your ID.
- KRA will reset it remotely for you and send you the new login credentials via a link.
- You will receive a message stating:-
We
acknowledge receipt of your request. Feedback shall be provided within 72
hours. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
- Once your request has been received. You will receive your PIN certificate with this heading Approval of Registration Amendment.
With
the following message:-
“Dear Taxpayer,
Thank you for using Reprint
PIN Certificate service through KRA ITMS. Your application for reprint of PIN
Certificate has been auto approved.
Please find attached PIN
Certificate.
Regards,
Commissioner
Medium and Small Taxpayer
Office
Kenya Revenue Authority ”
- Next you will be asked to provide feedback on the services provided via a link sent to your email inbox (optional).
And
that is how you Retrieve your lost KRA PIN Certificate or KRA PIN Number
easily.
